How Satisfied are Russians with the State of the Economy?
At the outbreak of the war, we saw many countries imposing sanctions on Russian firms and individuals with the express purpose of weakening the economy from the top. To what extent do ordinary Russians feel the effects of the war in terms of their satisfaction with the economy?
About the same number of people express satisfaction as dissatisfaction when answers are dichotomized.
However, looking at the full 4-pt scale we see that the plurality say they are not satisfied.
The level of dissatisfaction with the economic situation grew over first 3-4 months of 2023. It has remained more or less stable since then, although there was some fluctuation in the early summer months and an increase in dissatisfaction around late Oct/ early Nov 2023.
